The lovely folk at Bite Riot apples and cherries sent me home from my last visit to Orange with a basket of windfall apples.
The fire is on, and I’m whipping up a batch of this spicey cider, while prepping Orange Winter Fire Festival (www.orangewinterfirefrestival.com.au)
Please let me know if you have a recipe to share!
Ingredients:
8 cups of freshly squeezed apple juice
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon or 2 sticks
1/8 teaspoon grated nutmeg
4 whole cloves
1 orange, cut into slices
Cinnamon sticks and whipped cream to garnish
How to:
Heat the cider, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and orange slices in a 3-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes or until the mixture is hot, stirring occasionally.
Strain the cider into a heatproof pitcher or individual mugs. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and whipped cream, if desired.
